Sometimes I wonder if someone purposely goes around misattributing quotes and putting them on the Internet

I mean, like seriously, does someone do this?  Sometimes I come across a cool quote attributed to whoever and just out of curiosity I'll google it.  There may be a bunch of places that say the same thing, but there's been times I've come across a site that attributes it to someone else, or even has a debunking of who the quote is commonly misattributed to (here is an example from today).

So I wonder if misattributing quotes is just a common mistake people make because they don't know better, or is there a troll out there who finds cool quotes and purposely misattributes them to other people to gain some kind of weird trolling pleasure?

I don't know, but I decided to throw this one into the mix.
